Technical translation is an activity which requires both linguistic competence and a high level of skill in then field of translation. The meaning and style must be correctly conveyed in the target text and the terminology must correspond to that used by the professional people in the field in question.
I only translate into my respective mother tongue (European Portuguese) and have extensive experience in this profession.
While the translation is being produced, I build up a glossary of the very technical terms, which I submit to my clients, so that they can validate my suggestions, if they so wish. This glossary is archived, and enables me to use exactly the same terminology for the document being translated and any other subsequent documents covering similar technologies.
Besides which, I provide a follow-up after delivering the translation, if the client decides that this is necessary.
Due to my lack of expert knowledge of the subjects, I do not translate legal or medical documents. Neither do I accept translations where price is put before quality.
